About Treadmills
Walking is still considered one of the most beneficial cardiovascular exercises for people of all ages, body types, and fitness levels. As a fundamental form of aerobic training, walking has numerous physical benefits for the heart, lungs, and circulatory system, while also increasing muscle tone and burning fat calories. Treadmills provide a convenient way to regularly exercise in all weather conditions in the comfort and safety of your own home.

From beginners just starting an exercise regimen to advanced athletes looking to maintain their fitness level, anyone interested in getting and staying in shape can benefit greatly from regular use of a treadmill. Treadmills allow you to determine the pace, distance, and complexity of the workout based on your needs, all while watching television, talking on the telephone, or reading a magazine. Much easier on sensitive joints like the knees and hips, treadmill walking and running surfaces are typically long, padded platforms that allow ample room for a long stride and comfortable, low-impact walk or jog without the harsh contact of a concrete surface.

While many different types, styles, and price ranges of treadmills exist, many of them offer unique features like a fold-up design for easy storage, an electronic display monitor showing speed, distance, workout time, incline level, and burned calories, and EKG grip pulses to monitor the heart rate while exercising. Regardless of the simple to complex features you may choose, treadmills offer an array of aerobic exercise opportunities that will provide long-lasting beneficial cardiovascular results without a commute to the gym or a jog in the rain.

5 out of 5 stars Made my own home gym---love it!   August 27, 2007

I switched shifts so I cancelled my gym membership and decided to buy my own home gym...I did not have that much room in our spare room so I looked for a treadmill and bike that would take up little space. After reading reviews on Consumer Reports and Treadmill Dcotor I decided to buy the TR 2000-HRC treadmill. I love it! I can go uphill and downhill, it is super quiet and it gives me the same running surface size as the other treadmills I was looking at but does not have the hood in the front (which I always kicked at the gym!) and takes up more than a foot less space! I have been using it for about 2 months now 4 to 5 days per week and would recommend it not only for the small size but for the quality!

4 out of 5 stars good no frills treadmill   March 3, 2009

Does what I need, basic functions, speed and incline controls and timer/speed displays are all set up well. Noise level is low allowing me to listen to the TV or radio easily.

2 Negatives - I don't like what are supposed to be cup holder/remote control bins. Very poor design. I tie-wrapped an improvised remote control container to the handle. Static shocks have been frequent. Is there a good way to preclude this such as a specific grounding technique?

Overall very satisfied.

5 out of 5 stars 57 year old female happy with this treadmill   July 30, 2008

This is very sturdy. You must step up high to get on the treadmill. I imagine this is because it needs to be higher to accomodate the motor housing under the walking surface. The instruction booklet is easy to read. Being able to change speeds and include both the downhill and uphill features in my workout is great. It is a very quiet treadmill. It is great that my feet do not kick the motor housing when I walk. This is very important if you need to hold on to the hand rail when you walk because you are closer to the front of the walking surface. My only complaint is the way that the console is attached to the treadmill. I think longer screws and also more than two is needed for a more secure attachment. This is a minor detail. I choose to keep this treadmill in one spot because it is heavy. Overall, the treadmill is sturdy and attractive and the controls are easy to read and use. It is easy to fold and unfold. I am very happy with my purchase.

5 out of 5 stars Thank you, Reviewers!   August 14, 2009

What a help the reviews on this treadmill have been! My husband and I are both very happy with it. It is in fact quiet enough to watch TV or listen to the radio without irritation, and smooth enough to allow reading a book without strain. It feels solid and secure. The grip areas allow users of different heights to be comfortable. The programs are fine, and function smoothly. I particularly like the ability to walk both uphill and downhill. The manual that came with the machine could have been more detailed and better written, but the machine is well designed enough to make that a minor problem.

"Everything about this treadmill is AWESOME! Very little assembly and went together quick! Great Warranty! Great Features! The decline feature allows me to walk up and downhill and I love that I can change the speed and incline on the handlebars! I can see why this treadmill has the awards that it does! Glad I bought this unit."
